| THE OUTDOOR DECK COMPANY advise the use of Grade 1 Southern Yellow Pine, a fully
treated timber supplied by the famous Cox Lumber Company, USA. The timber comes from
managed and sustainable forests and every deck has a guarantee of 40 years against rot or
decay. Grade 1 Southern Yellow Pine is the hardest and strongest pine in the world and its natural honey colour gradually weathers and bleaches to a soft silvery-white colour. This warm tone blends beautifully with plants and trees and is very sympathetic with gravel, natural stone and pebbles.
COMPOSITION AND MANUFACTURE The timber is kiln dried both before and after it has been pressure treated. This process pre-shrinks the timber, thereby providing stability and resistance to the movement typical of wet timber. It also allows the timber to be stained or finished immediately after installation. Treatment is to a preservative retention level of 0.4lbs/ft2, ensuring that all decking boards are weatherproof, capable of resisting insect attack and suitable for contact with both ground and water.
